What are the eligibility requirements to apply for loan?

You must qualify for membership, have a credit score of at least 581. Your debt-to-income will also be evaluated as well as the loan-to-value.

You may join Hughes Federal Credit Union if you:

  • Live, work, worship or attend school in Tucson
  • Are employed by one of our Select Employer Groups
  • Have a family / household member who is a member of Hughes: Family member – a spouse, child, sister/brother, parent, grandparent, grandchild, stepparent, stepchild, stepsister/brother, or adopted child. A household member is a person living in the same residence sharing household expenses.
  • Make a small donation to one of the following community Special Interest Groups:
    • Friends of the Oro Valley Public Library
    • Friends of the Pima County Public Library
    • Friends of the Green Valley Public Library

What information should I have handy before I apply?

When you apply for a loan with Hughes, you'll be asked to provide your personal information such as name, address, Social Security number, employment information, income, U.S. citizenship status and email address.

For refinance loans, we’ll need specific vehicle information such as make, model, year, mileage and vehicle identification number (VIN).

Do you offer loans for a private purchase?

Yes.

Are there any penalty fees for paying off my loan early?

No.

Am I required to carry full coverage insurance?

Yes, we require full coverage insurance with comprehensive and collision deductibles of $1,000 or less. 

Do I need to notify my insurance company when I get a loan with Hughes?

Yes. You will need to provide your insurance company with the following lienholder information:
