Summary

40% Provides primary support for the company's network and PC/LAN servers which includes planning, implementing, maintaining and troubleshooting network   systems, security, hardware and software.

30% Manage DNS servers, domain controllers, DHCP server, SCCM and FTP server file servers, exchange Server and others as assigned. Implements, maintains network infrastructure (i.e. Cisco Routers, Cisco switches). Active Directory management; such as creating user accounts/mailboxes and  permissions.

15% Manage and support, or facilitate the management and support, of enterprise server hardware, VMware virtual infrastructure, and storage systems.

10% Participates in short and long-range planning for the department to select and utilize appropriate technologies to meet the evolving needs of the company and its customers. Manages small to medium sized projects according to agreed upon budgets and schedules.

  5% Provides support for Help Desk technicians quickly and efficiently. Creates materials for end-user frequently asked questions (FAQs).

Description

The Network Engineer is responsible for assisting in the development and maintenance of network infrastructure and communications. Uses knowledge of LAN/WAN systems to help design and install internal and external networks. Tests and evaluates network systems to eliminate problems and make improvements. Monitors communication networks, servers, security tools and operating systems to ensure maximum performance in a high traffic environment.  This position will work alongside the IT support teams to ensure system integrity and availability and security. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. May lead and direct the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.

This position requires excellent communication, technical and project management skills.  This position will support the goals and objectives of the IT department by assisting HFCU and IT employees, as well as, all impacted departments.

Requirements

Experience:  Five to Seven years of similar or related experience.

Education:  BS or MIS degree or related experience.
