Important Fraud Alerts
A new fraudulent email is being sent, allegedly from the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), to credit union members, including Hughes Federal Credit Union members trying to capture ("phish" for) your personal and financial account information. The NCUA is aware and has provided more information on their web site http://www.ncua.gov/.
NCUA does not ask credit unions members for such personal information. Anyone who receives an e-mail that purports to be from NCUA and asks for account information should consider it to be a fraudulent attempt to obtain their personal account data for an illegal purpose and should not follow the instructions in the email.

Alert Issued On New ATM Scam
SACRAMENTO, Calif. (08/03/05) -- A new fraud involving the use of wireless cameras to steal ATM codes from consumers is making its way around the country. In this new scam, criminals are attaching a wireless camera to the front of an ATM, often disguising it as part of the card-scanning equipment found on every machine, according to the California Bankers Association. The camera records all of the information used to access the card and is transmitted to a recording device, usually held by the plotters nearby, in some cases a nearby parking lot. The bankers are warning consumers to take precautions when using ATMs, using your body to shield the keypad when you make a transaction.
