All it takes to join Hughes Federal Credit Union is a $50 deposit into a Main Share Account, which is like a savings account. That is your share in the credit union, which stays in the account, earns interest, and maintains your membership. You can also open your account with a $10 deposit and have six months to bring your balance up to the minimum $50, which is a par value of a share in the Credit Union. Once you reach the minimum $50, you can apply for any of our other benefits and services which includes voting for our board of directors. Once you are a member of Hughes Federal Credit Union, you are a member for life and you can take advantage of many or all of the Products and Services we offer.

There are several ways to establish your membership and open an account:

1. Online
   In order to get the process started, you can apply for membership online by filling out our Membership Application and submitting it to the branch office you wish to do business with. The branch office receiving your online membership application will review it to determine if you are within our field of membership.
   
   Once eligibility requirements have been met, information provided on the online membership application will be transferred to a Hughes Federal Credit Union Membership Card and mailed to you for your signature. If you choose to establish your membership without coming into the credit union, your signature MUST BE notarized and a copy of a picture ID (driver's license or military ID) must be sent back with the signed membership card and a check or money order for $50 payable to Hughes Federal Credit Union.
   
   If you want to come into the branch, please be sure to bring the signed membership card and proper identification. Please see our Locations and Hours for your convenience.
   
   When we have received all of the necessary forms properly filled out and signed, we will notify you of your membership with Hughes Federal Credit Union.
   
2. Visit any of our Branch Offices
   A Member Service Representative will be happy to meet with you at any of our branch locations. You can open your new account, sign up for Direct Deposit, consolidate any loans that you might have or rollover any 401(k) or IRAs. Please see Locations and Hours for a branch office near you. Please be sure to bring:
   
   
   • Proof of identification and picture ID (Driver's license or military ID)
   • Cash or Check for $50 to be deposited into your Main Share Account
     
     
3. By Phone
   If it's more convenient for you to call us, we can get your membership started over the phone and answer any questions you might have.
