eBranch Security
Any information that you submit through eBranch is encrypted using 128-bit SSL technology. This is a strong form of encryption available for commercial use over the World Wide Web and is currently the standard for financial institutions nationwide. That means that even if the information you submit is somehow intercepted by a third party on its way to our servers, it is scrambled and very difficult to decode.
If you use Netscape Navigator, you can find out what encryption level it supports by clicking on Help on the menu bar, then About Communicator (or Navigator). In the window that opens, look for a section on RSA Security. In the notes, if it says "This version supports US security…" then your browser supports 128-bit encryption. Otherwise, it will indicate you have an export version, which only supports 40-bit encryption.
For Internet Explorer 4.01 or later, look under Help, then About Internet Explorer (or under the Apple icon in Mac) for a reference to 128-bit or 40-bit. (With some versions of Internet Explorer, you may need to download the Service Pack 1 to upgrade to 128-bit encryption).
AOL users must have AOL 4.0 or have downloaded and installed the AOL 3.0 patch that supports 128-bit encryption. Please follow the instructions available on AOL for upgrading to 4.0 or installing the patch.
To eliminate the risk of intrusion, we have also implemented state-of-the-art firewall technology and secure password requirements.
For additional security, your account is protected by a password of your choosing. No one can access your account without knowing your password, and you can change your password as often as you like. Please remember to keep your password confidential! Credit Union employees do not have access to this information and they will NEVER ask you for this information. If someone claiming to be a Credit Union employee calls you and asks for that information, refuse to provide it and report the incident to our Call Center immediately. Credit Union employees will ask for other information to uniquely identify you as the member when you call us.
The eBranch program will automatically log out after 10-15 minutes of inactivity. However, the Credit Union recommends that you log out of your eBranch session after every use so no one can access your account if you walk away from your computer. To log out of your session click on log out at the top right corner of the screen. You do not have to exit the browser when you end your session.
For security reasons, the Back and Reload/Refresh buttons on your browser do not function within the eBranch secure environment and should not be used. (Note! This is a function of the Browser and is not unique to eBranch.) You should use the red and blue buttons located across the top of each page for navigation throughout your Online Banking session.
It is also extremely important that you carefully review your Credit Union statements as well as any other written communications that you receive from the Credit Union. If you feel that your account information has been compromised after your initial login, please contact our Call Center during regular business hours at (520) 794-8341 (Tucson) or (800) 253-8245 (U.S.), or email us at email@hughesfcu.org immediately and we will block your account from further access.
For security purposes, we "lock out" anyone who tries more than a few times to log in without the correct account number and password. If you have forgotten your account number or password, please contact our Call Center.
All Credit Union accounts that have not been enabled by the primary owner are blocked. Before you can use eBranch you must enroll online and go through an authentication process. It is not necessary for you to contact us to block your account.
